Age on other planets
Enter your date of birth: the tool counts the days you have lived and divides them by the length of each planet's year. A Martian year lasts 687 days: at 30, you would be about 16 on Mars.

How it works
Formula: Age on a planet = days lived ÷ length of its year (in Earth days)
A year is the time a planet takes to go around the Sun. The tool counts the days you have lived since you were born, then divides them by the length of each planet's year, in Earth days, as published by NASA: 88 days for Mercury, 687 for Mars, nearly 12 years for Jupiter. It also works out the date of your next birthday on each planet.
Worked examples
10,000 days lived (about 27 years)
14.6 years on Mars and 113.6 years on Mercury.
30 years on Earth
2.53 years on Jupiter: not yet 3 birthdays.
One year on Mars
687 Earth days, almost 2 years.
Common mistakes
Thinking you are older on Mars.
A Martian year lasts 687 days: you get fewer birthdays there.
Dividing your age by the distance from the Sun.
Divide by the length of the planet's year: 687 days for Mars.
Counting 365 days a year on every planet.
Each planet has its own year: from 88 days (Mercury) to 59,800 days (Neptune).
What the calculation leaves out
- Worked out to the day, from the orbital periods published by NASA. The orbit picture is not to scale.
Length of the year and age after 10,000 days of life

|---|---|---|
| Mercury | 88 | 113.64 |
| Venus | 224.7 | 44.5 |
| Earth | 365.2 | 27.38 |
| Mars | 687 | 14.56 |
| Jupiter | 4,331 | 2.31 |
| Saturn | 10,747 | 0.93 |
| Uranus | 30,589 | 0.33 |
| Neptune | 59,800 | 0.17 |
Frequently asked questions
How old am I on Mars?
Divide the days you have lived by 687: at 30, you would be about 16 Martian years old.
On which planet are you oldest?
Mercury: its year lasts only 88 days, more than 4 birthdays per Earth year.
Where do the figures come from?
From NASA's Planetary Fact Sheet, which gives each planet's orbital period in Earth days.
