How it works
Formula: Time left = target moment − now, split into days, hours, minutes and seconds
The tool subtracts the present moment from the target moment, both on your device's clock, then splits the gap: 86,400 seconds a day, 3,600 an hour, 60 a minute. The start day does not count: from December 1 to 25, there are 24 days. The table below gives the days left until the next holidays, worked out again every day.
Worked examples
From December 1, 2026 to December 25, 2026
24 days: the start day does not count.
From November 6, 2026 to January 1, 2027
56 days, or 1,344 hours.
From January 1, 2027 to February 14, 2027
44 days.
Common mistakes
Counting both days: from December 1, 2026 to December 25, 2026 you would get 25 days.
Count the gap between the two dates: 24 days.
Adding months in your head and losing a day: from November 6, 2026 to January 1, 2027 you quickly get 55.
24 days are left in November (which has 30), 31 in December, plus January 1: 56.

What the calculation leaves out
- The time comes from your device's clock: if it is set wrong, so is the countdown.
- If a clock change falls before the date, the time left counts the real duration: one hour more or less than a plain count of days.
