How it works
Formula: Pace = time ÷ distance
Enter a distance and the time it took. The calculator divides the time by the distance to get the pace per kilometer or per mile, and divides the distance by the time to get the speed. The race presets use the official road distances: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon 21.0975 km and marathon 42.195 km. The table shows the finish times for each race at a steady pace.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a pace into a speed?
Divide 60 by the pace in minutes. A pace of 5:00 per km is 60 ÷ 5 = 12 km/h; 6:00 per km is 10 km/h.
What pace do I need for a sub-2-hour half marathon?
About 5:41 per km (9:09 per mile): 2 hours = 7,200 seconds, divided by 21.0975 km.
How long is a marathon exactly?
42.195 km (26.2 miles). The half marathon is half of it: 21.0975 km.
