Kilograms and pounds: the conversion
A pound (lb) is 0.45359237 kg in the NIST tables. The other way, 1 kg = 2.2046 lb. To go from kilograms to pounds, multiply by 2.2046; to go back to kilograms, multiply by 0.45359237.

Common mistakes
- Halving pounds: 150 lb is not 75 kg but 68.04 kg, a gap of 6.96 kg.
- Rounding to 2.2 on large values: 100 kg gives 220 lb instead of 220.46 lb.
- Mixing up the ounce of weight (oz) and the fluid ounce (fl oz), which measures volume.
