How it works

Formula: cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54

A foot is 12 inches and an inch is exactly 2.54 cm. So count the inches (feet × 12 + inches), then multiply by 2.54: 5′10″ = 70 inches = 177.8 cm. The other way, divide by 2.54 and split off the feet: 180 cm = 70.9 inches, or 5 feet 11 inches, rounded to the half inch.
